Christmas Books for Babies: 12 Days of Christmas

Who doesn’t love a great Christmas book? I saw an idea on Pinterest a few years ago where parents were wrapping Christmas books for their kids to open in the days leading up to Christmas. What a great idea to introduce Christmas books to babies!

I loved the idea so much that it has always stayed with me. That’s why I decided to write about 12 days of Christmas books for babies. 

 

Christmas is definitely one of my favorite holidays. Especially after having my first child. Christmas seems to bring a magic in the air that someway, somehow even when our world seems out of control – that it all comes together just as it is supposed to. 

 

That’s why I get so excited to put up our Christmas tree, lights, ornaments, and decorations. To wrap Christmas presents and books to open and read together. 

 

I wrap our Christmas books we already own. My kids usually don’t remember them and if they do it’s still a surprise to find out which one we are going to read tonight!

Here are my top 12 books for Christmas books for Babies! 

 

1. Peekaboo Christmas By: DK 

 

My kids love this book series! It’s a surprise every time with touch-and-feel and lift-the-flaps. Plus they love to look at the pictures of the babies throughout the book. 

 

I love it because it offers a wide range of descriptive words and asks questions to get your baby thinking! 

   

2. Christmas Peekaboo POP-Up By: DK 

 

Another one of the Peekaboo books but this time it offers a fun pop-up affect! My kids love it because of the lift-the-flap surprises. 

 

I love it because, like the first book it continues to ask questions and becomes repetitive for little minds to better understand the language. 

   

3. Construction Site on Christmas Night By: Sherri Dusky 

 

This book goes with the series Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site. It has bright pictures and is perfect for kids who love anything with wheels! My kids love it because they are familiar with the characters. 

 

I love it because it teaches the joy of giving, offers rhymes, and rhythm.

   

4. Where is Baby’s Christmas Present? By: Karen Katz

 

If you aren’t reading Karen Katz books to your baby, you should start today! My kids love them because they are predictable (follow a pattern), offer lift-the-flap surprises, and have nice colorful pictures! 

 

I love them because they ask questions to get my little one thinking. This adorable Christmas version is no different! Ours is so loved it is taped in the middle and that’s only after use for about 2 months of the whole year! 

   

5. My First Christmas Books/Library by Igloo Books 

 

I found this set of small books at TJ max on clearance after the holiday! I was very excited to add this gem to our Christmas book collection!

My kids love these books because they are small and fit into their hands. They can “read them” on the changing table, in the car, at a restaurant, and even on a walk in the stroller. 

 

I love them because they are simple and a great take along book for the diaper bag. 

   

6. The Cheerios Christmas Playbook By: Lee Wade 

 

What baby doesn’t love playing with their food?! I know my kids do! This cute Cheerios book offers playing with food in a book. My kids love it because they get to play with the Cheerios while eating them! 

 

I love it because it gives them something to do while I make dinner! It also works on counting, following directions, and answering questions. 

   

7. A Christmas Present for Me By: Lilly Karr 

 

This books looks just like a beautiful Christmas gift complete with a sparkly bow on top! My kids love it because of the bright pictures! 

 

I love it because of the rich language it allows us to discuss. This book allows me to teach my baby all about different vocabulary and describing words! 

 

8. Little People Lift the Flap Christmas Book By: Matt Mitter 

 

My kids love Little People! They are marketed toward children ages 1-5, but they have loved them since I can remember. The books are no different. They offer bright pictures, fun counting activities, and lift-the-flap activities.

   

9. Touch and Feel Merry Christmas By: DK 

 

My favorite part of this sweet baby book is the adorable Santa! Babies love these books for their touch and feel sensory that they offer. 

 

I love that they are simple and small enough for their little hands. 

   

10. Indestructibles: Jingle Baby By: Kate Merritt & Amy Pixton   

 

If you have a baby and haven’t heard of indestructible I have news for you! These books are perfect for babies because they chew on them, pull on them, and attempt to rip them without causing damage. They are also 100% nontoxic and you can even put them right into your dishwasher. 

 

Jingle baby is a simple story about a family on Christmas morning and you’ll be able to teach your baby about family Christmas traditions using this book. 

   

11. Little Blue Truck’s Christmas By: Alice Schertle

 

Little blue truck is being so helpful by delivering trees to his friends. You can use this book to talk to your baby about what they can do to be helpful. It also works on counting. 

 

I love this book because it is perfect for growing with babies into their preschool years! 

   

12. Touch, Feel, and Smell Christmas Cookies By: Cottage Door Press 

 

This book is perfect for sensory needs as it incorporates your touch, sight, sound (if you are reading it to them) and smell! 

 

Babies will love interacting with the thick pages and exploring this book. It’s full of bright pictures and descriptive language for babies and toddlers.
