My First Halloween By: Disney Press

This cute book is full of sensory! Your baby and toddler will love learning about Halloween by feeling all of the fun pictures. It is also full of fun Disney characters dressed up for Halloween.

Mickey’s Halloween Treat By: Disney Junior

Your toddler will love following their favorite Mickey Mouse Clubhouse characters through a fun Halloween adventure! This cute book mimics the show, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. They’ll have fun finding all the best Mouskatools to solve the problems throughout the story.

EEK! Halloween By: Sandra Boynton

Sandra Boynton is a wonderful author for babies and toddlers. Her board books are perfect for their little hands. They also aren’t too saturated in words and are full of entertaining pictures that are sure to captivate your little one’s attention.

Scaredy-Mouse By: Disney Mickey Friends

Another book with Mickey and his friends! This time they are carving pumpkins, going trick-or-treating, and of course having a Halloween party! This book is interactive giving your toddler the opportunity to pull, slide, and move around the pages.

Halloween Is Here! By: Fisher-Price Little People

If you haven’t hopped on the Little People book train yet, you are missing out! My toddlers LOVE these books! And as an intervention specialist (and of course, mom) I do too! They are full of fun interactive lift the flaps. Plus they have one for almost every holiday.

They also allow you and your child to talk so much together about different things that are happening throughout the story. You’ll have the opportunity to discuss trick-or-treating manners, carving pumpkins (using a lot of describing words), Halloween costumes, and even what to expect at a Halloween class party!

They also allow your child to practice their counting skills by asking them to find “10 pieces of candy corn” or to count all of the orange pumpkins.

Click, Clack, Boo! By: Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin

Based on the very popular children’s book, Click, Clack, Moo! Cows that Type! This book is about a farmer that is scared of Halloween! Good thing his farm animals aren’t scared! They are in the barn having a Halloween party. Your kids will get a good laugh at him hiding in his bed. Plus it has a great figurative language by playing up all the sounds that the farmer (and animals) hear throughout the story.

Mickey’s Spooky Night By: Disney

Another Disney book here but a cute story about Mickey throwing a Halloween party for his friends. Everyone comes over for a fun party but poor Mickey is upstairs! The friends have quite the scare between a storm outside and Pluto getting lost in a sheet. If your kids are into Mickey and his friends like mine are, this is a good one to try!

The Sneaky Little Beagle By: Charles M. Schulz

This book isn’t “The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” that is for sure! Snoopy is up to no good and scaring the whole Peanut gang in this story. It goes along with the tune of “Itsy Bitsy Spider” which makes it kind of a catchy little story.

Hungry, Hungry Monsters By: Agnese Baruzzi

This book isn’t a “Halloween” book per se but it’s perfect for the season! The monsters in this book are eating various (dare I say) disgusting things. Your children get to count each one! I love it for the rhyming little poems that it brings to the table.

Franklin’s Halloween By: Paulette Bourgeois and Brenda Clark

Franklin is a series of children’s books about a turtle named Franklin. He gets into all kinds of childhood-type problems and works to find a solution. This time, Franklin is headed to a Halloween party!

Who will be at the party, what will they dress up as, and what will they do there? You’ll only find out after reading the story with your little one! I have a feeling you’ll be hearing a lot of Halloween pretend play after reading this story with them.

H is for Halloween By: Disney

This book is another great series done by Disney. I can’t wait to tell you about them if you don’t already have them in your home! This book is an alphabet book and each page is FULL of alliteration!

Next, each page has the letter pushed in so the child can feel the letter on every page! They can use it to practice tracing their letters. And finally, each page is full of lift the flaps! Your child will have fun finding them and lifting them to see what words start with the letter on each page. If you are a Disney fan you need to check out these books!

Five Little Pumpkins By: Dan Yaccarino

This cute little board book is a poem! Your child will enjoy the pictures and the fun little rhymes that make up this book.

The Biggest Pumpkin EVER By: Steven Kroll

As a teacher, this is one of my favorite books for this time of year! It is perfect for teaching a slew of different topics. In this story, 2 field mice are tending to the same pumpkin in a garden to help it grow. They don’t know that anyone else is watering the pumpkin until they finally meet one night!

I love using this book to help teach making text connections, asking and answering questions, and social skills.

The Biggest Pumpkin Surprise Ever! By: Steven Kroll

This cute board book is full of fun lift the flaps. It’s different than the one before because it’s not as much of a story. Instead, however, your child is looking for the different kinds of pumpkins throughout the story. It’s the perfect book to help teach little ones different language skills like tall, short, round, big, small, and color words.

It’s Pumpkin Day, Mouse! By: Laura Numeroff

The famous mouse from “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” is back to show different types of feelings this time! He’s painting the pumpkins to show sadness, happiness, anger, and more! I love this book for teaching social skills and feeling words to young children.

If you are looking for ways to start teaching empathy or help support their emotional growth using words to identify feelings is a great place to start.

Hi, I'm Ashley E!

I teach moms and teachers how to inspire a love of reading in the early years. I live in Ohio with my husband & two boys. Our favorite places to be are at the beach & Disney World. But most of the time you’ll find me at school teaching, working out in our basement, or blogging at home. So grab your favorite cup of coffee, tea, or (if you’re at all like me) water & let’s go through this thing called life together.
