Toddler Easter Basket Gift Ideas

Are you looking for toddler Easter basket gift ideas? It seems these days with social media and technology that Easter can in a lot of ways become a mini Christmas for children.

Growing up in the 90s I remember Easter baskets with candy, a set of PJs or a swimsuit, maybe a pair of flip-flops, and a new summer toy like a jump rope or hula hoop.

These days it seems that companies are creating all kinds of small “stocking stuffer” like products for Easter baskets.

That’s why I love my mom’s approach from the ’90s. Our baskets were filled with things we needed, used, and were practical for the spring and summer.

I’m going to break my ideas up into categories including clothes, food, toys, and other.

In this article you’ll read about toddler Easter basket ideas.

The Basket

I love my mom’s idea of using reusable items as an Easter basket. Some of my favorites she’s used in the past or I have used with my kids are:

Fabric Tubs for Cube Shelf Storage

Reusable Bags

Dollar Tree baskets/bins

These are an idea of what they have on Amazon however the Dollar Tree sells similar fabric boxes.

Book-Bag

Clothing

I love gifting my boy’s clothes that I would buy them anyways. I think it’s super nice to get them a new swim suit for the summer or a t-shirt with their favorite character.

Some other clothing options for toddler Easter basket ideas include:

  • Pajamas
  • Outfits
  • Light jacket or sweatshirt

I also like putting summer shoes into Easter baskets. My favorite summer shoes for kids are Natives.

Natives are great because they can be worn to (and into) the pool, to the splash pad, on the playground, in the mud, puddles, and they can withstand the potty training of a toddler! This is because they can be easily sprayed down or washed off quickly and easily.

Food

We keep a designated container in our pantry for toddler snacks. This is usually for on-the-go.

Things like granola bars, applesauce, individual packs of teddy Graham’s or goldfish, and fruit snacks.

I love using stockings and Easter baskets to fill up their pantry bin. We will usually buy what we are running low on in the pantry or things that we typically wouldn’t buy to add to their bin.

I look for these items on our typical grocery run if they are having them on sale. Last week Target was running a sale on the Nabisco snack packs and had a digital coupon as well.

This allowed me to stock up on items I wouldn’t typically buy to use for their Easter baskets.

I also like getting them some of their favorite snacks that I wouldn’t buy like puff popcorn, Oreos, or fruit snacks.

What are your toddler’s favorite snacks? Please let me know in the comments below!

Toys

I mean kids, Easter baskets, and toys go together, don’t they? Some of the classics are jump ropes, bubbles, & hula hoops.

But here is a list of other great toy options for a toddler’s Easter basket …

Cars

Little People

Play-Dough

Dolls/Barbies (or doll accessories)

Kinetic Sand

I recently gifted my kids a kinetic sand bin for Valentine’s Day and they loved it! I made them from plastic bins, Kinetic sand, dinosaurs, and construction trucks.

Balls

Lego Duplo Blocks or other kinds of blocks

Swim or Bath Toys

Books

I can’t write a blog about how to teach toddlers how (& learn to love) to read without mentioning books as a great toddler Easter basket filler!

I recommend you check out my article “Dollar Tree books for toddlers” to get some great options at the Dollar Tree.

Otherwise I recommend:

  • Board books
  • First word books
  • Lift the flap books
  • Books with their favorite characters
  • Look & find books
  • Coloring books
  • Water Wow

As great options for Easter baskets! Don’t forget to check out my toddler’s favorite books here.

Other

I do like putting in their Easter baskets other things that may not fit into these categories.

In the past we have given our children:

Bubble Bath

Bubbles

Puzzles

Sidewalk Chalk

Water-Bottles

Eating Utensils (with their favorite characters)

I’d love to hear what you are planning to hear about your toddler Easter basket gift ideas! Don’t forget to let me know in the comments below.

Remember you get to decide what Easter baskets are going to look like and provide in your home. I know social media can make it seem like maybe you should be doing more. But let us not forget the reason for the season.

I can’t wait to see and hear about what you come up with in the comments below!

Hi, I'm Ashley E!

I teach moms and teachers how to inspire a love of reading in the early years. I live in Ohio with my husband & two boys. Our favorite places to be are at the beach & Disney World. But most of the time you’ll find me at school teaching, working out in our basement, or blogging at home. So grab your favorite cup of coffee, tea, or (if you’re at all like me) water & let’s go through this thing called life together.
